"The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli

One of the most important artworks of the Renaissance is "The Birth of Venus", painted  by Sandro Botticelli (1444-1510). He painted it in 1485, in the moment called "Quattrocento".

This artwork was painted using the technique of tempera, and the support material is the fabric. You can find it in Florence, specifically in Ufizzi's Gallery.
The theme of that painting is the birth of Venus, who is arriving at Cyprus, which is devoted to her cult. Venus is the goddess of beauty, love and laughing.
We can see Venus in the middle. She is naked, but she is covering herself with her long, blonde, wavy hair. She is standing up in a shell on the seashore.
On the left side you can see Zephyr, the west wind, who has got golden winggs, long, brown hair; and he is covered by a grey layer. He is flying with Cloris, his wife and Mrs of flowers. She has got long, blonde, long hair. Zephyr is blowing Venus to approach her to the land.
On the right side you can see the land with some trees behind. Also you can see the Spring, who has got long, blonde hair, and she is wearing a flowered dress. She is waiting for Venus with a pink and flowered layer.
"The Birth of  Venus" wants to explain the mystery of how the beauty was given to the world. I want to describe and talk about this artwork becasue I think that it is one of the most beautiful paintings of that period. Also because I like Greek and Latin mithology a lot, so I like this artwork a little bit more. I would like to go to Florence to see and admire it. It is one of my favourite paintings.
